Our bees collect nectar and turn it into honey. We then collect the honeycomb from the hives, spin the honey out and put it in jars... Not always as simple as it sounds, with the British weather and environmental problems to contend with, a bee's life isn't always straightforward. So some years we get lots of delicious honey and other years a lot less – but then it is a totally natural product!
• In the middle of summer there are about 50-60,000 bees in a hive
• Bees will travel up to 3 miles to find a good food source
• Bees from one hive collect pollen and nectar from about 225,000 flowers per day
• Honeybees need to collect nectar from about 2 million flowers to make one pound of honey – and fly the equivalent of twice around the world!
